I think we will win on the issues - that’s the easy part - but I think we are also winning on those issues that swing the swing vote this time, some of which are pretty superficial, but which are requisite to winning. So long as our team does not lie or use unfounded character assassination, I can accept the general necessities of winning. I do think we are going to win on about as high ground as it is possible to be on and still win, which will be a refreshing change from how Nixon-Rove succeeded in defining winning electoral politics.

The Republicans are the political party of family values and the irony meter was buried in the red. Plus, it’s the whole character issue. He’s waving the flag, recalling his imprisonment during the Vietnam War, which is admirable and admittedly, not many people could have survived that ordeal. But this is the other side of that same coin and maybe voters need to hear about that, as well as his heroics.
