I’ll be heading out to New York for a week in the morning. But don’t worry - I hear they have computers there.
I’ll be seeing three Broadway shows. It’s not often that I have a friend on Broadway… let alone four, all in (or responsible for) shows this very month. They are:
- Our own Mo Rocca in “The Putnam County Spelling Bee.”
- My friend Alison Weller in “Coram Boys.”
- My friends Larry and Nell, who wrote “Legally Blonde.”
I urge you all to see all of the shows. [Possibly not in the same 26-hour span, the way we’re doing it, but still… ]

1And there´s me!! I´ve been on Broadway five days a week for six years! Okay, so it´s Broadway and 8th St, not quite as glamorous, but also a lot less unnecessary singing.
I´ll be around if you need a break from the glamour.

2Remember to bring your address book, or you’ll have to frantically hunt for some new fangled computer based way to locate friends and plan engagements. Perhaps that series of tubes based thingie (the Internaut?) would be useful, but probably easier to just use the old black book.

3Those little town blues…
New York, New York, a helluva town
The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down
The People ride in a hole in the ground…
East side, West Side, all around the park
Remember to tell people you’re in town this time. And hook up with Dale. Tu hablas espanol, no? Dale es una hermana muy facil en uptown jive.
And have a great time!

4Perhaps the relative dearth of comments can be attributed to envy. Once you start name-dropping and telling us about your fabulous Broadway-going life, we don’t have much to contribute.

5I don’t know - once you’ve been to Mecca, all else fades in comparison. Unless you’re an infidel. In that case, I’d have to say Las Vegas rules.

7Go Twins. Mauer leading the AL with a .369 batting average? Works for me!

9Tuesday is always a double fun day - not just new This Modern World, but also new K Chronicles. What more could you ask for?

10I know why it´s so quiet. It´s because we´re all pondering the mysteries of duck genitalia! But finally, FINALLY, the mystery has been solved
I think my favorite sentence was ¨Dr. Brennan was oblivious to bird phalluses until 1999.¨

12And to think that I could have remained happily oblivious to bird phalluses, but for Dale . . .

13Dale - Mauer’s up to .378 (still leading!), according to ESPN. Not my fault websites don’t update regularly……

14Hmmm. I think my comment got eaten. Dale, your Polanco’s 3rd in the AL right now. And I don’t even want to click on that link…

15Fascinating. Although my favorite bit was the car/garage analogy. Pure poetry.
Dale, we really do have to meet. Perhaps at this year’s Felberpalooza? I think we’re hoping that Adam will be in Chicago over Labor Day.

17Since we’re not really on topic here anyway and many of us are from or in the SF Bay area I wanted to share a panorama I did quite a while ago.
With the recent collapse of one of the freeway interchanges in Oakland’s MacArthur Maze I managed to dust off some old CD’s and update one of my earliest panoramas. Shortly after the East Bay freeway system was fully recovered from the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake I managed to take a panorama from the highest bridge in the Maze. I’ve annotated it to show the section of freeway that collapsed and added a more recent photo taken by CalTrans to show what it looks like now.

(You’ll notice I spend much more time on Adam’s blog than I’ve ever bothered with my own.)

19Ann, it´s a (platonic, Harold, calm down) date. I am planning on being unemployed this summer. It has its drawbacks, but it means my schedule is very flexible. Can´t wait to meet the one who got away!

I too was born in Holland MI. I don’t remember going to school with this Prince although I do remember some with that name. You will notice that he headed for Cooper’s end of the world to set up his mercinary army.
