How does stating the obvious make you a traitor? Reid didn’t lie to get us into a war. Reid hasn’t subverted the American justice system to take away American freedoms in the name of freedom. Reid hasn’t consistently attempted to mislead the American people and isolate our country diplomatically. If you want traitors, look to the White House.
And now for something completely different . . . Great post, Adam. I’m still trying to figure out how vetoing the funding bill can be considered supporting the troops.
nato, don’t even try to debate him or ask him to defend his statements. It’s best to distract him with discussions of the weather or birds. Possibly sports.
I’m screwed, then. The weather is really boring here right now, I’ve misplaced my birding manual, and the only two sports I really enjoy are futbol (soccer) and wingnut-baiting.
I read a bit of Mr. DeLay’s book “No Retreat, No Surrender - One American’s Fight” and I’ve got to say, for a fundamentalist Christian, he certainly tells some pretty outrageous whoppers. Long before my uncle took him on as a client, I was hacking into his email account and, Sweet Jesus, the stories I could tell and the bodies I could unearth! I’m thinking of writing my own memoir, so I’ll dish the dirt later and make a few bucks in the bargain. Sleep well, Mr. DeLay. If that Texas prosecutor don’t get you, the “Tell All” will.
coop, thanks, I guess. I don’t listen to the Rushman, and now you made SeattleTammy’s head blow up and now she’s in her corner, grunting and squealing, and that’s your fault.
WF, there is only one crime that is defined in the Constitution, and that is treason. You need to read that section. If you really believe what you wrote, and aren’t trying to provoke us lefties then the terrorists have won. What terror is, is not necessarily killing people but inflicting fear on your enemies. And if you believe that, and think everyone WANTS TO CUT OUR HEADS OFF, then the terrorists have won. And you have only yourself to blame.
Dennis Kucinich is going after the real traitor, waterfowler. Go, Dennis.
Only problem with Adam’s offering is that it is not so much Bushco that is fucked as it is the American body politic that was well and truly fucked when the Supreme Court appointed Bush president, and we are simply living out that royal screwing.
Boomer, regrettably the photo spread she did for Rolling Stone (pix by Annie Leibovitz) doesn’t appear to be online. The cover is, though. It’s the one on the bottom left at the official Rolling Stone gallery of Ronstadt photos.
Adam, you got in some good ones this time on WWDTM. I especially liked the maternity turntable/78 RPM screaming Doppler effect and Liberty being locked out of the White House also worked well with the crowd. I guess all those years of improv in low, smoky dives paid off there. I also suspect the producers are spiking your lightning round answers so you don’t win all the games. Anyone knowing that Pepsi answer off the top of their head should be institutionalized (or probably has been already). And I’d would have given you credit for the answer to the athletic shoe question. But Paula did do a great job with the lightning round.
Linkmeister & Boomer, I enjoy pictures of Linda Ronstadt as much as the next red-blooded American, but our female posters here are highly intelligent, well educated, and politically aware and they don’t suffer chauvinistic slobbering very well. Oops, pardon my drooling.
Courtesy of YouTube, here is Groucho from You Bet Your Life with contestant Lord Buckley. If you are not familiar with the Lord, he was what we would now call a Performance Artist, but did comedy clubs in the ’50’s. He had something of a cult following, and was an influence on the Beats, and the early folk scene in NYC, including Dylan and others. Very interesting clip.
We would also call your attention to the fine volume available at your (a-hem) favorite bookstore (a-hem)

SeattleDan, “aid & comfort” come to mind…and exponentially, coming from the leader of the Senate.
Also, I don’t think you want to cut my head off, but if you come by, don’t be surprised if the beer I offer you is in a can, while mine is in a bottle…just in case.
Nice try Mr. Coop. That bit is @ least a month old and is a spoof of a lib, black, LA times writer doing a hit piece on Obama…Please try again.

gillian, I have all the respect in the world for my fellow FanAp readers of whatever gender. I was merely pointing out the work of a major 20th century photographer and one of her subjects.

Oh, for the droolers among us, here’s the cover art for Ronstadt’s Hasten Down the Wind.
I won’t deny that the photo might have influenced my purchase of that album, but it was secondary to the fact that I already owned about eight other ones she’d done (and still do). She was one of the best rock song interpreters around for that 10-15 year period.
Interestingly, while Googling for the Leibovitz photos I came across an article/interview with her (Dallas Morning News, maybe?) where she said she didn’t like Leibovitz much as a person. Ronstadt felt (if I remember the skimmed article correctly) she was being pushed around while the photo session was taking place.
WF, when we come visiting, we’ll bring our own. Tammy is damn particular about her beer. Me, I’m a wine guzzling liberal. We wish we drove a Volvo. And we’ll want to see birds. No birds, we ain’t visitin’. (Please leave the shotgun in the closet. And we’re not going out hunting with you and the Veep).
Fowler, might as well remove the nest. Don’t want to encourage them to re-use it, I suspect. Probably makes good compost, being rich in organic matter and all.
How many did they fledge? And congratulations on sheparding them through this successfully.

1Reid is a traitor.
Besides the NRA, don’t forget to donate to Ducks Unlimited, and the Coastal Conservation Association.
