After a ridiculously frantic month, I’ve got more or less an entire weekend to catch up. And catch #1 was updating the Schrodinger’s Ball website. [Thanks to a few of you for reminding me that the novel has a site. And that said site needed attention. I’m in the midst, as I’ve mentioned more than once, of some very Interesting Times.]

[Portrait of the author]
I’ve opened the comments for discussion and posted a few more reviews. So please, come on down. And if you don’t mind, send a few of your friends by linking to the site whenever and however you so choose. I have a feeling that these internets might turn out to be a powerful promotional tool.

1Thank you for assuming that I have friends. I’ve added a link on my website, so hopefully my reader will click on it. Damn, I still hope I have a reader . . .

3Adam, I only wish that I could have finished your book before f-ooza, so that I could have asked you the number of questions that I have about it. (I obviously can’t ask it here, because of the other reader who haven’t finished the book).
Those of you who haven’t finished it, shame on you, what excuse do you have? You can get a signed copy here at Grouseland, along with a t-shirt. What more do you want? Green stamps? World Peace? Sheech!
(Oh by the way, it is really REALLY good!) And I’m not just saying that because Adam is a hero of mine or anything.

4I’m in the middle of it, but I had 19 (yes, 19) Discworld books on reserve at the library, and they all came in at once. Since those have deadlines when they must be returned, and I own my copy of Adam’s book, I made a command decision.

5I find it interesting that ever since that picture of Adam appeared in the NYTimes, John Tierney changed his headshot from this to this.
See, John, now here’s a man who knows how to make a fist work for him in a photo!

6My excuse for not being done with SB is that I moved recently, ordered the book from Amazon before moving, and neglected to update my address before it shipped. Thus, it has yet to arrive. Here’s hoping USPS can forward it soon.

7I read the sucker as sustenance for a mind distraught over missing F*****palooza, and I’ve already ordered the first gift copy to a family member by utilizing Seattle Dan’s most excellent mail order service.
I don’t got no website. Hell, I’m still wandering about in the cyberwilderness uttering occasional plaintive cries.
Adam,
That is a headshot that should most definitely boost sales of your very touching rampage of a multi-tentacled tale, even though said pic will probably scare the bejeebus out of young children who happen upon it.

8Tsk, tsk, tsk. We (”we”=Lauren and DocNagel, by the way, rather than the general plural observer) were busy, too, but we finished the book forever ago!
And it is officially, lovingly plugged on my little blog. Complete with umlaut! (”Opt”+”u” then the letter you want the umlaut on, on Macs!) It is also linked therefrom, twice, now. I am a little ashamed to admit that I let someone borrow the book, rather than making her buy her own, but I’m sure there’ll be a way to correct that balance, somehow. Like buying ourselves a signed copy, or something. . .

9My copy just came in today. I’m starting it even as we speak. Er, type.

10Looking forward to writing a review and spreading the gospel among friends.
Currently waiting with bated (and occasionally baited) breath for the details to arrive from Murray and/or SeattleDan on how to get my copy shipped out and paid for. SeattleDan, I could pick up a copy in person but a) I’d miss out on the Felbernuts signed copies and worse b) I’d have to wait for late Oct when I’ll finally have a chance to road trip up and visit the store. And I have a feeling that I’m going to want to have the absurdity of the Ball as a reprieve from the absurdity of the job search process.
Linkmeister: Taking a break to read Discworld books is never a bad decision. Managed to get Brian hooked on them too during the world tour but discovered that you can almost never find copies in used bookstores. Asked a couple of shop owners in different countries about it and he said that’s because most people who own the books read them and keep them instead of selling them. Given that that’s what I’ve done (got ‘em all), I guess I can’t be too mad.

11My copy is on the way! Murray is the greatest!! I almost decided to get a pink t-shirt, but decided to stay gender color nuetral, as my name suggests. Or did I?

12I finished my copy yesterday (last night actually).
Kudos, Adam! I loved it.
With the clue-in to Schrodinger’s cat the other posters provided in this blog prior to publication of the book, I do have to say that I was nearly stopped cold by the title page. In my mind, at that point the book was both read and unread, and neither read nor unread. I wasn’t certain that I was willing to tamper with any possible states of existence.
Also I didn’t want to inadvertently kill the cat.
(If you understand that comment, read the book. All will be made clear.)
However I was able to gather my resolve and clean the carpet…er proceed with turning the page. I didn’t regret reading a single paragraph, chapter, or letter of the entire novel.
(Thank you Siobhan for the “Resolve” carpet cleaner reference provided in another thread. I have reclaimed and am now able to use the word with impunity)

13*Sigh* correction: “if you DIDN”T understand that comment.”
Even though I can see the preview option, my mind apparently refuses to process the text until after I’ve posted.

14Jim, I both did and didn’t understand that comment.
