If he does come up with an example, it will probably be a couple whose marriage fell apart when one of them gave up the facade and came out (or, in the the phrasing of the 'phobes: "decided" to become gay). In other words, a marriage that wouldn't have occurred in the first place if the gay spouse had been free to marry who they really loved, rather than trying to force themselves to fit some one else's notions of normal. * sigh *

Sibohan,

Now that I substitute teach I REALLY know how futile it is to argue with teenagers (or even hope that that have retained anything said to them). Like pushing sand upstream.

In our congressional race we will offer our opponent the finest meal he has ever eaten if he can come up with one hetro marriage that was threatened or destroyed by a gay marriage. If he can't come up with one it's because there aren't any, and if there aren't any then the issue doesn't exist, and why talk about nonexistent issues when there are real ones that need solving.

Murray, last night I went through the July 03 saga. Impressive.

I wonder how Big Mo is doing, now that he's graduated from high school, and I wonder if any of the discussion lingered with him? It's easier to have way-solid beliefs about sexuality before you've had much experience in the area. I also wonder if he still thinks the goverment should be focussing its eneriges on the issue of gay marriage, or if maybe he sees some higher priorities (being that he's now of enlistment age)?

We're coming up on our 19th anniversary next month, and I guess if two heterosexuals can stay married that long in San Francisco, it's possible anywhere.

Gee, I hope I don't disappoint you all. Actually I see that as inevitable, but what the hell.

BTW I've already ordered the keg, and will be placing my order for MM, good Champaign, and Famous Grouse (Scotch). Feel free to bring your own favorite and we will have a taste off.

Seattle Dan will be sending a pile of Adam's books, so if you haven't already ordered your book from him, you can pick one up here.

I have a dozen rooms reserved at the Day's Inn, and the Campground is getting its nails polished in anticipation. We will have a projector and screen so bring your power points and favorite slides on a CD or DVD. If any of you have a video you want to show bring that. I'll be showing clips from my video "The Smart Person's Guide to Mountain Biking" featuring future congressman Tony Barr.

Still working on the T shirt. (not me).

Oh, where are my manners? Congratulations Chris and Susannah. If you do it right marriage is the best thing in your life.

SeattleDan,
Since I brought up the original marriage post, I thought I should look at it again, too. The comments go on forever! But what really struck me was that I didn't contribute at all. I must have been too shy. Murray really pulled out the big guns--I can't wait to meet him at Grouseland!
