But we did so knowing Gore would win Washington State (which he did handily). We would have voted for Gore, otherwise. We were hoping the Greens would get 5% nationally, and then qualify for national matching funds for elections, which didn't happen. In 2004 there wasn't a chance in Hell that we were not going to vote Democrat. (Well, I did think about voting the Felber/Sagal ticket-forgive me!). A few months ago I chewed out the last of the DNC telemarketers who called me looking for money, and the next day I went to city hall and changed my registration to the Green Party. Yes, I know it's a futile, quixotic gesture, but I am so tired and fed up with spending a lifetime watching the lifeblood getting drained out of the political and public life of this country--no thanks to both the Dems and the Repugs--that I felt that a futile, quixotic gesture was in order.
