Atrios threw me the ball this evening. And I will indeed pick it up. Tomorrow.
Because though I probably do have something to say about the preposterousness in question, I’ve been out.
Because July 1st is probably only Canada Day to most of you. Or, if you’re Mo, it’s also Princess Di’s birthday. But to me… it’s my birthday. So here I sit, lightly toasted, surrounded by loot (including a bottle of Basil Hayden, which helped with the whole “toasting” thing), and wondering how you stop spelling “preposterousness” once you’ve started.
So…’til tomorrow, that ball stays where it was thrown. G’night!

1Let me be the first (oh boy oh boy, I’m first!) to say happy birthday Adam.
And thank you for the gift to us that is Fanatical Apathy.

2Adam, Happy Birthday, buddy. Many, many more. You spell very well for someone who has broken the seal on a bottle of Basil Hayden.

3Adam, Happy Birthday! I listen to the show most weekends when driving out with the family and enjoy it a lot.
I also am a big fan of pundit accountability. I’m glad you have not ignored Atrios and will be addressing Gwen Ifill’s deceitful smear of John Edwards. These kinds of lies (which always seem to target Democrats - funny that) end up taking hold because hardly anyone with a public platform calls them on their truthiness (ie. asserting something to be factual - which in fact is made up - that supports their way of thinking). That is, there’s no downside to lying.
Perhaps it’s time for a new segment of the show: “And now’s the time in the show called ‘Roll Back the Tape’, when we force our guests to listen to their factually challenged statements from a previous episode of the show, and the documentary evidence that shows it them be false. Then we watch them SQUIRM…”
I could totally see it.

5Canada Day, of course… I was forgetting! “O Canada…..” I forget the rest of the words, and the tune. Help me out, Bramster.
Pete-rB, Won’t happen. No one would come on the show - no one political anyway.

8Dammit, there’s nothing more to say now that Charlie’s offered the ultimate natal day sentiment. Oh, well.
But happy birthday anyway! And now I’m off to follow links and lose maybe an hour of my life and get all incensed and het up and blog incoherently about it. Thanks loads.

9Adam–
If this next year is anything like as successful as the one you’ve just completed…you’ll be dangerously awesome.
We were celebrating with you–
’cause it was my husband’s birthday, too. All the best dudes were born on 7/1. At least in my experience.

13Well, Margaret, some of the best dudes are born on July 1. But who can forget November 30th - Jonathan Swift, Mark Twain, Sir Winston Churchill, [modesty prevents me from…].

16There’s even an NPR precedent for Pete - rB’s “Roll back the tape”. One of my favorite events on Car Talk is the “Stump the Chumps” segment, where they call someone from some distance in the past, remind everyone what the situation was, and find out if they guessed right or not. How about a “Stump the Chumps” segment on WWDTM where they go back over embarrassing public statements from the celeb of the moment? Of course, then they’d never get anyone to appear…

18Go, October 9! I didn’t know about Jackson Browne, but you can add Sean Lennon, (there was some artificial and fairly disturbing inducement on proud papa’s part).
Happy b-day, Adam. You came out extremely well for a guy who never got to have a class birthday party.

19Speaking of the public clearly misremembering the true chain of events–the best record in baseball and the Tigers have 1 elected member to the All-Star team? Did Diebold have anything to do with this?

21Opps, sorry Adam, unimportant things (business, politics, hanging out at the pond drinking beer) keep getting in the way of what is really important.
Wishing you a belated happy birthday, (if it helps ease the pain I also missed my granddaughters birthday yesterday).
At least you wern’t born 5 days later and had to share the day with W.
