You’re devastated that God has called Scott McLellan home. You’re heartbroken that Karl Rove has also left the building (no, no he hasn’t). Where do you turn?

Well, first you have to breathe. Realize that Scott’s probably already writing you a book. And that Karl… well, he’s “gone” the way herpes is “gone” when you don’t see it for awhile. Even if he spends next year sharing a small room and bunk beds with Scooter Libby… he’s not really gone.

But if you are feeling a profound sense of loss, this might help a little.

Remember Chris Regan? I suppose he’s best known as the writer who guest-blogged here at Fanatical Apathy for one magical week back in ‘04. Lesser-known, perhaps, is the television program, “The Daily Show,” where Chris served as a writer and won four Emmy awards. He also co-authored some sort of vanity publication entitled “America: The Book.”

Whether you know him for his moment of blog stardom or his obscure cable TV show or his little-known venture into print media, Chris is an outstanding writer. So perhaps the pain of losing McClellan and (sort of) losing Rove will be ameliorated by the appearance of Chris’ brand-new blog, “This Day in Mythstory.”

Go. Enjoy a young scholar finally setting the world straight on some of the finer points of world history. To me, it looks like a book in the making, a nugget-a-day historical primer (all he needs is 362 more entries).

It won’t make you forget the good times with Scott and Karl (who’s still here). But it might help.
