But as I understand, the new technologies are able to convert the starch and cellulose into sugar, making it much more efficient. The Brazilians use the spent stalks as fuel to run the distillers. Brazil made a choice back in the 70s or 80s to switch the entire country to ethanol and they have achieved it. THEY are no longer in the grip of any foreign country that sells oil.
