I'm at about #80 in the record-setting FA entry.
Thank you, Murray, for the heads-up. It was well worth the eye fatigue. After a week's break, I'm going back in.

Felbernaut Intrepidistas,

Thanks - I'm a relatively recent addict, so I'm going to have to go back and at least check out the one that I gather was a real tour-de-force, loosely speaking.

I kind of envy those of you who had already discovered FA while I was still applying my forehead rather forcefully to gypsum (I was at least smart enough to choose walls with some give).

Pete, no, no, nooooooooooooooooo! It was drug spam that killed the original comment column. Mostly viagra, ciallis, etc.

Lots of folks around who are too dull to understand satire.

One of the funny things was that I got into an argument, back an forth for a long time with what turned out to be a High School kid. I thought he seemed more confident than informed.

Murray, Keeper Of The Imperishable Archives, you're right. I was doing at the backblog and I noticed some of the comments that turned up in the archives : Oh. My. Lobster. The number of sad, deluded, self-righteous comments left months after threads had degenerated into moral pissing contests... Some of those people have had total humourectomies! And those poor sufferers of Satire Deficit Disorder! Surely there must be a kind, good, selfless drug company who can help those folks return to a normal life of understanding jokes, laughing at their own stupidity, and not blaming their problems on everyone else? Pfizer, Glaxo, where are you?

David, the record is in the July 31 2003's "Save my Marriage", 253, although with the spam it went over 300. Everything except the spam is there for the reading, if you have a couple of hours to wade through it. Lots of emotion. Lots of laughs.

I'd suggest folks look for James P Hogan's "Making Light", a short story in an anthology named "Minds, Machines and Evolution".

GOD: "So, what did the FAA say was wrong with the fish?"

Angel: "They don't have coastal radar..."

I think "Concession Spech" (http://www.felbers.net/fa/2004/11/03/concession-speech/) and "Headlines From The Second Term" (http://www.felbers.net/fa/2004/11/05/group-activity-headlines-from-the-2nd-term/) may have had more comments...but the comments for both are tragically lost, I think, except for any copies of the post and all its comments that may still be getting e-mailed around. (The things that are currently listed as "Comments" are actually Trackbacks - 65 of 'em for "Concession Speech". Adam, when will you be assembling your greatest hits into a book?)
