Okay, brave fanathletes - these coming days might be a bit sparse from a blogging perspective. I’ve just gotten a writing job to go along with tomorrow’s “Wait Wait” in Chicago and the copy-editing of the novel (due next week). So I’m a little… overbooked.
I’ll be posting in the weeks to come, no doubt, though less frequently. I’ll see if I can arrange a guest blogger or two to fill the yawning, terrifying emptiness. Fanatical Apathy shall endure.
The job? All I can say at present is that it involves a major network, I’ll be writing and, I think, performing, and - should the network air it - it’ll be really, really funny. Beyond that, I’ll have to play it cool for now.
Today was my first daty of work (after getting the job around dinnertime yesterday). Lots of nice people, but they made fun of my Hannity & Colmes lunchbox.

1Best of luck with the new job. I hope the show works out. I also hope you are able to spare some time now and then for a blog here and there. If you’re desperate for a guest blogger (well hopefully not that desperate), I’d be glad to help out
All I need is to spend more time blogging when I’m supposed to be working…
cheers

2No, we understand… There are more important things than us… More important things than our feelings - they are just small, unimportant things, our feelings. Don’t you worry about us.. Adam…

3What he can’t say is that he’ll be replacing “Brownie” as the new head of FEMA.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what his nickname is going to be.
Yea, really really funny, Adam. What city are you going to destroy? You can give us a heads-up, your loyal fans, so we can get a head start on the traffic, right?
Love,
Hanna

The network? C-SPAN.
May I be the first to say “Congratulations, Justice Felber.”

7Head of FEMA *and* the Supreme Court? Wow! You are busy.
Don’t worry about us. We’ll be fine. We’ll just sit here in the dark until you have time for us. You go spend time with your friends. But if they were really your friends they wouldn’t make fun of your lunchbox. That’s just my advice. You can do what you want……………

8You know Adam, maybe the H&C lunchbox wasn’t a good one to take on the first day. I might have stuck with the Battlebots one.
Best of luck. Much productive writing and please, please, please, find someone else to pinch hit (though we’ll miss you, of course). I’ve come to enjoy the group here a great deal. You wouldn’t want to leave us with one thread, 800 some posts long, babbling about nothing.
Would you?
Hmmm, maybe you would…

9Bring back Peter.
He was perfect as a guest (substitute) blogger. He had a different slant so a direct comparison couldn’t be made. And he was almost as funny.
Or I suppose you could do as cartoonists do when they go on vacation, recycle old pieces. Bring out a Best of Adam’s Work.
Or you could come back when you have time.

10Murray, there’s already a “best of” Adam’s work. Just go to www.felbers.net/fa, or it’s also called the “Archives”.
Damn, I can only get CSPAN over the internet in a teeny little window. Or is that NASATV? I always get them confused.

11I hated my Hannity and Colmes lunchbox. Every day, baloney.

12Pete, Are you an expat? You’ve sure got a heck of a grip on US politics and culture for someone down under. I realize that Americans generally know very little of the world outside and that citizens of other countries sometimes know more about our country than we do, but CSPAN and NASATV? Damn you must be bored!

13As Adam’s sister I am privy to where he’s working.
But I’m sworn to secrecy.
And I don’t accept bribes.
Unless they’re really really big.

14Really, really big? The Daily Show? No, that’s really, really good. Hmmm, big. That’s kinda scary.
I’m still worried about who is going to open new threads whilst Adam chases this comedic juggernaut about.

15Maybe Adam’s going to be ghost writing Michael Browns memoir…

16Adam, may you swim well with the sharks.
Susie, you could do the blog while Bubba’s off making the huge bucks. I feel a landslide of affirmation building. Susie, Susie, Susie…

17cooper, not to correct you but I think Susie used the word “bribe”. Actually, “bribes” and then described them as “really, really big”. So while I with you in spirit on the flattering (I think it’s a great idea), it may fall short of what she was hoping for.

18I have started listening to Wait Wait on NPR - on the web, here in Sydney (Australia)… I had not heard of it till I was put onto your blog (after your magnificent red state blue state thing post election), but when I mention it, other Aussie fans admit that they, too, are listeners…. good to get another perspective on America, and American comedy especially, from the fodder we’re usually fed here… I wonder if we’ll get to see your ‘thing’ with ‘whomever’ that you’re so ‘busy’ with…??

19So Adam, does this mean you won’t be coming to Chapel Hill? Because then I’m stuck with this bottle of Maker’s Mark and no idea what to do with it.
Oh…wait…

20My money says Adam’s writing for Match Game 2006. Or the New New New Hollywood Squares.
Good luck with whatever it is you’re working on!

Congratulations to you!

23Susie would be a good sub also. Her blogs, although shorter, carry the Felber wit. (She is also funny as hell on stage).

24Landis, my secret’s out: I have no life. Then again, I’m a nerd’s nerd, so it sorta goes with the territory
Anna, if you don’t already, have a listen to ABC Newsradio (I think it’s 630kHz AM in Sydney, but they also broadcast continuously on the web at http://www.abc.net.au/streaming/newsradio.asx, it’s bloody great, especially when they’re broadcasting parliament - ZZZzzzZZ - on the radio). They also broadcast NPR’s All Things Considered every day at 1PM (AEST), and replay each day at 10PM in case you missed stuff (it’s a bit shorter ’cause they remove all the funding requests). Plus they feed from the BBC, Deutsche Welle, and even the Dutch news service in Hilversom. Smörgasbjörd, anyöne? (I have a soft spot for Newsradio, it’s how I heard about Adam years ago before he was rich and famous).
Susie, you don’t need the money. Adam will send you a cheque every week. Trust me, he’s your brother. You will also gain the fawning admiration of pale, scattered people like us who have no life. It’s not good Power, but it is Power. Kinda. Pleeeeeeeeeez?

29Pete, since you’re admitting to character flaws here (nerd’s nerd), I’ll come clean; but don’t let anyone else know, okay? I watch NASA-TV. I also build & fly Large and Dangerous Rocket Ships. Google LDRS19. I was there! These are my kind of guys!
