Tomorrow morning I’ll be heading up the Pacific coast for Monterey, where we’ll be taping a liveWait Wait. I’ll try to post an entry or two once I’ve arrived, gotten the lay of the land, and located a natural source of Maker’s Mark.
And yes, some of those posts might be about our new Secretary of State.
Foreign diplomats - meet Condoleezza Rice. She’s blunt, she’s forceful, she gets the job done - she’s a hammer, in fact. In that way she’s well-suited to this job for this President. A Secretary of State needs to be a useful tool, like the corkscrew that was Henry Kissinger or the Swiss Army knife known as Madeline Albright. Colin Powell was a far too complicated tool for the President to operate properly (he was some sort of adjustable wrench, but with a bit more frustration and self-loathing than you generally see in household tools).
More later. I have to plan my trip to Monterey. It’s a good place from which to plan an assault on Stanford. And today, they have a lot to answer for.
