- Sinclair Broadcasting’s VP summed up the controversy over the anti-Kerry documentary this way: “Is it (illegal) because there are some elements of this that may reflect poorly on John Kerry? If you use that logic and reasoning, that means every car bomb in Iraq would be an in-kind contribution to John Kerry. Weak job-performance ratings that came out last month would have been an in-kind contribution to John Kerry.” In other words, if Islamist terrorists and cold, hard facts are allowed to get involved in the campaign, so are we. It brings up a question, too - what is our congress doing to prevent actual events from interfering in the democratic process? Write your congressman today and let him or her know that you won’t stand for stuff happening in the weeks leading up to an election.

- It’s high time I posted the link to my friend Ethan Berlin’s site. Here you will find a bunch of extremely odd animations by Ethan, who was one of my writers on that John Henson project in July. The site is probably not for the whole family, but let me recommend “Flee-Flee Flah-Fluh” and “Action 6 News at 6.”

- President Bush is telling folks that John Kerry’s plans would require a tax hike. I suppose that’s true. then again, George Bush’s already-implemented plans definitely require a tax hike too, don’t they? For instance, the tax cuts themselves definitely require a tax hike to pay for ‘em. Of course, Kerry could pay for his plans the Bush has - by not paying for ‘em. The Kerry campaign oughta look into this option. It all depends on what your definition of “require” is.

- I’ll be doing “Wait Wait” in Baltimore on the 28th and in Monterey on November 18th. As always, please come by and say hi afterwards. Buying me a bourbon or two, by the way, can be written off as a campaign contribution. At least for the Baltimore show. At Monterey, you might have to write it off as a contribution for my legal fund as I press for a recount.

- In order to stem violence before the start of Ramadan, US forces are firing at mosques and whatnot, setting ‘em ablaze. Obviously, if someone in a mosque is firing at us, we have a right to fire back. I’m just not sure how well images of burning mosques fit into the whole “hearts and minds” campaign. Then again, I guess you can’t get at hearts and minds unless you cut through the skin and bone first. So maybe I just wasn’t thinking literally enough.
