Every now and then, I sit for an interview, most often with the local media in advance of one of our road shows. I’m glad to do it, of course, and am always flattered by the attention. But I always chat with the reporter with the underlying assumption that they will take what I say, select whatever they like best, and write an article about our show using choice quotes. So I do my best to give them as much material as possible… I used to be a journalist myself, and know how tough it is it just to get three or four quotes for an article.

So I was a little surprised when the latest journalist I talked to simply posted the transcript of the entire interview.

NB: There’s also some excellent Carl Kasell and PJ O’Rourke goodness, both men coming off a lot less full of themselves, and blabbermouthed, then I do. Also, there are some references, unexplained in the transcript, to “the last time we talked” or “like I said before…” that’s because he interviewed me twice. The first time, his tape recorder malfunctioned.
