From Reuters: Bush Insists He Has Made America Safer
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - Under fire for intelligence failures at home and abroad, President Bush tried on Monday to convince American voters he has made them safer since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and told them “we were right to go into Iraq.”

From the same speech:
“We remain a nation at risk, directly threatened by an enemy that plots in secret to cause terrible harm and grief. We remain a nation at war, fighting for our security, our freedom, and our way of life.”

Let’s get this straight, once and for all, people:
We’re in a lot of danger. A whole lot of danger. High alert. Every day, in every way, we are in peril from terrorists. They are plotting to kill us in every city, village, and hamlet across this great land of ours. It would be suicidal to let down our guard, whine about “rights,” put an untested executive into the White House, or deviate from our present course in any way.
Also, the country is much, much safer than it was three years ago. It’s amazingly more secure, and that’s due to the good works of the Bush administration. They’ve made this country so incredibly secure that it almost hurts how secure they’ve made us, like we’ve been swaddled up tight in this soft cotton blanket of total security. The Patriot Act, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Tough Love diplomacy, all have conspired to make us much, much, much more comfy and secure.
To review: LOOK OUT - it’s completely safe.
