Re: New enemies
Mr. President, Mr. Vice President, Members of the administration;
As you might have heard, David Kay has quit, while telling everyone that Iraq didn’t possess any stockpiles of WMDs before we invaded. This despite the fact that no one has yet proved that those stockpiles aren’t there somewhere. And no one ever will - think about it. Anyway, please add Mr. Kay to your Enemies binder, in the “Defectors” subsection, right after Paul O’Neill, and tell your various staffs to “Plame” ‘im. They’ll know what you mean.
Also, U.S. District Judge Audrey B. Collins has just struck down part of the Patriot Act. Judge Collins should be added to your Enemies binders immediately. Also, it appears that Collins might be right about the Constitution being a problem for the Patriot Act, so I’ve included a copy of it with this memo. Please add it to your binders.
So, to review, our enemies now include (but are not limited to) David Kay, Paul O’Neill, Judge Audrey Collins, the Constitution, Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, John DiIulio, France, Germany, Russia, Iran, North Korea, China, Canada, Syria, Democrats, the media, at least 51% of the voting public, the unions, the environmentalists, liberals, fiscal conservatives, Hollywood, the Dixie Chicks, gays, the NAACP, the ACLU, and that quiet, unassuming voice that whispers to me late at night and tries to shake my confidence by making me think about long-dead, hopelessly naive parts of me that are better left forgotten (no progress yet on hunting him down, but we’ll get him, we’ll get him).
And Al Qeada, of course. They’re enemies too. I’ll put together something on them for the binders soon.
Best,
Karl

1Don’t forget Daniel Schorr! Actually, Rover probably has NPR’s signal jammed within 2 miles of the White House. Wouldn’t want any, you know, truth getting through. Not to mention all that rampant Felberism.

4It is good to see that they are getting their list of enemies narrowed down — even if it does keep getting longer!

5Is the Constitution really such a recent entry to the binder? I would have thought it had been there for much longer.

6Pretty soon Karl will just hand out the non-enemies binder because its so much easier to carry around.

7Why does the idea of watching Dennis Miller these days feel akin to attending a Lieberman rally? The thought just kinda makes my skin crawl.
Oh, well — it’s probably just me.

10How can you call yourself even the slightest bit ‘politically aware’ with this whole scenario of an “Enemies List Binder”? To even joke that a public servant like Mr. Rove, whose sole mission is to protect the Administration, would be SO careless as to send a memo to our President without instructions on how to safely operate a binder is simply ludicrous.

11Creepy to me is how far Mr. Miller has gone to the right and way sad to think of potentially why.
But Kudos to you, Adam, for doing your part to help Bush lose this election. D. Shore reminded us last weekend that not only does the new guy have to Win the election, the incumbent has to Lose it.
And we need to HELP him lose it. Carry on. Please. Your voice is so much bigger than mine.

12Oh no, the Constitution is not new to the binders. Problem is though, the thing keeps getting buried way in the back what with all those new entries coming in. The staff needs to be reminded that we have the thing and they need to know what it says. They work so hard, they just forget, ya know.

13Remember: “We have to kill the Constitution in order to save the Constitution.”
Or, something like that…….. (sigh)

14Karl may want to check with John Ashcroft. Seems that the sciences of chemistry and biology are also on the list. Here’s the actual quote:
“Weapons of mass destruction including evil chemistry and evil biology are all matters of great concern, not only to the United States but also to the world community. They were the subject of U.N. resolutions.”
-John Ashcroft (emphasis mine)
You can find the whole article here. I came across it at This Modern World.

15Now that they have their enemies list all set, where is Gordon Liddy when they need him?

16I had no idea Iraq was involved in stem cell research..er..I mean “evil biology”. Well, in that case - they deserved what they got, right? Go get ‘em Johnny!

17This is a BIG FAT LIE! Karl Rove does NOT have an “enemies list.”
He has a “Clemency List.” (These things are always done with euphemisms. Surely, you knew that.)

18I think cute cuddly puppies should be on the list somewhere. Also the English language. Hiya.

19I am always uplifted by the Faith of the Bush administration. They’re skeptics about global warming and the notion that junk food might have anything to do with obesity, but they Believe in those WMD’s. After all, there is no scientific evidence that they DON’T exist.

20Nick has innocently stumbled on the heretofore unknown difference between “good chemistry and biology” and “evil chemistry and biology”. Nice work!

22You can add hunters and sportsmen and about 400 odd gun clubs to the list of enemies since bUSH and Norton Nork opened the Alaska north slope to mining and drilling and a huge chunk of the Sierra Nevadas to old growth cutting.
