Oh, if only I had the time to craft a witty, poignant, straight to the heart of the matter, comment that would leave all who read this in profound awe. OK, OK, I guess that it would also require a good deal more brains than I have access to at the moment.

No time for debate, no time for understanding, no time for democracy, no time for revolving doors, no time for the chilling floors, got, got, got, no time, got no time (repeat).

I was especially impressed with the way the House Republicans kept open the voting on the Medicare bill for 3-1/2 hours. If they'd been running things like that in the Congress all along, Jesse Helms would still be holding out well past his death for a few more votes to kill the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

"...I don't think the Bush administration is planning to abandon the Shoot First, Think Later model of government any time soon."

Well, Adam, there you go again. Do you have any concrete evidence that they plan to think later?

I meant Strom Thurmond, of course. They are nearly interchangeable, aside from not both being dead. Sorry about that. I'm going to shut up now.

I heard on NPR that during the extended vote, the GOP leadership was going around talking to reps, socializing, etc. The commentator (don't remember name ... hey, it was 5 a.m. and I was on the speech team bus) specifically mentioned that the leadership was touching reps' elbows (a story I heard on NPR last year said that this is a cordial way to establish power on Capitol Hill).

So my question is, would you write a satirical sketch if I grabbed your elbow? :-)

i know this is satire, but you use truth to make your points at times. so -- "Bechtel gets Oregon." should i be worried? or just laughing? with both senators caving in on this, i'm starting to sweat a bit here....

Bechtel got Oregon in a no-bid deal. See, there wasn't time to go through regular channels because it's only, what, eight months or so until the next Eugene Hippie Fest so Bechtel's gotta get going pronto to take control of the hemp fields and build up badly needed infrastructure to secure all the bare breasts.

Dammit, tim, you tease. I was all excited at the thought of Jesse Helms taking the ol' dirt nap at last.
