Hm, maybe that didn't come out right. What I meant to say was that it reminded me of the <i>movie</i> Bloody Sunday*, and (to me at least) it's most poignant aspect: that the almost immediate result of the killings (and one must assume the cover-up rhetoric) was the HUGE boost in IRA enlistment. It seems an apt analogy, and (considering that there are IRA members and others who saw this first-hand and have described the cause-effect publicly) one we should learn from. *Apologies to all those who know more about Bloody Sunday than I do, and that means everyone who's done more than just watch the movie.
