Nothing from this war has met the "2 second think about it test". Why should the explanations at this time be any different? The administration knows that the American public is stupid and can be fed anything as long as if it sounds as if it might be right.

"As welcome as a circus clown at a funeral service" I don't know, Adam. One of the funniest half hours on TV was the funeral of Chuckles the Clown on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. His eulogy, "a little song a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants.

a thought occurred to me after i heard a rumor that bin laden was "supporting" his allies in iraq before the war; that he wanted us to attack one only nations in the region that ISN'T governed by islamic fundamentalists and intentionally incited the americans by drawing an apparent connection to himself and iraq. just a paranoid thought.

Your commentary reminded me Bloody Sunday. Hm, maybe that didn't come out right. What I meant to say was that it reminded me of the movie Bloody Sunday*, and (to me at least) it's most poignant aspect: that the almost immediate result of the killings (and one must assume the cover-up rhetoric) was the HUGE boost in IRA enlistment. It seems an apt analogy, and (considering that there are IRA members and others who saw this first-hand and have described the cause-effect publicly) one we should learn from.

*Apologies to all those who know more about Bloody Sunday than I do, and that means everyone who's done more than just watch the movie.
