The Concord “Wait Wait” was a smashing success, giving the weary people of New Hampshire a break from having to constantly shake hands with Democratic candidates (although John Edwards was doing the valet parking and Dennis Kasinich was pretending to be the mens’ room attendant). Here’s a quick look at the proceedings.

[Center: Carl Kassell displays a sign provided by a fan, thus splitting the all-important “satirical public radio show personality” vote. Clockwise from top left: Amanda Gibson, Rod Abid, and Doug Berman phone for security to take my camera away; Carl Kasell and Peter Sagal wave off the paparazzi as Union Leader publisher Joe McQuaid awaits his introduction; Tip for beautifying your self-portrait - just add Amanda; Roxanne Roberts and Charlie Pierce, shortly before the overly-close flashbulb blinded and disoriented them, paving the way for my victory.]

5I’m agreeing with you, Adam, surrounding yourself with Amanda and Roxanne is not only fun for us, it must have been great for you too!
I’m also agreeing with the other posters….when is WWDTM bringing you to Northern California…or will the next California visit be to KPBS and the San Diego area…Ka-ching, Ka-ching!!! We’ve got KQED and KAZU on the coast as long-time WWDTM stations….please please please!

6Would have loved to hear it. Unfortunately, MN Public Radio pre-empted the show again. Wait Wait seems to be one of their favorite pre-emptables (along with Terry Gross w/ Fresh Air). When I complain, they write back thanking me for my support… & please consider making an additional gift.

7gardenbear: follow the link on the right (under “out there” to hear the show…
Definitely dig the “ka-CHING” soundcue–did it sound to anyone else like it was lifted directly off of Side 2 of Dark Side of the Moon?

10It’s too bad that the best line of the show got cut… Adam’s “…openly expletive.”

11I don’t know about Northern CA… I think WWDTM should come to Central Indiana.

12Or south central PA. Why there must be literally tens of NPR listeners out here.

13Form the Desk of Corwin Haught, President of the Minnesota Public Radio “WWDTM” Defamation League:
MPR’s pre-empting of WWDTM this week was unfortuate, though understandable, for the using the time to air a program from the public-radio wide “Whose Democracy Is It?” week, spanning NPR, PRI, Pacfica, CBC, Radio Netherlands, and several local stations. I look forward to it’s broadcast next week.

14bet it gets re-pre-empted for a ’speaking of faith’ marathon. sigh.

15GardenBear, just wait for the next MPR pledge drive (should be in about 90 seconds….) tell them that you will pledge only on the condition that your money go directly for WWDTM funding and that if they preempt the show you’ll pull your $$$.
Personally, I’ve given up EVER hearing WWDTM on MPR, and just make it part of my Sunday to play it on the computer from the WWDTM website. It’s ok, except when someone announces this week’s winner in the comments before I’ve had a chance to listen.
Hey, maybe we can band together and get MPR to change its’ policy! (…. or not!)

16I wrote MPR and told them that I’d give my money to KBEM’s ‘bluegrass saturday morning’ show (a great listen, by the way) if they kept pre-empting my faves. They wrote and told me how much everyone just LOVES ’speaking of faith’.
I can’t believe I’ve been busted by the MPR quality police on Adam’s site (I also can’t believe there’s a Minnesotan named Corwin Haught).
