I finally finished. This is a post for the ages. It truly covers the full spectrum from the utterly ridiculous to the wonderfully sublime, with some fascinatingly incoherent stops along the way.

Thank you once again, Murray, for the heads up.
Speaking of heads up, all you hot-to-go anatomically male types across the legitimately theorized spectrum, saddle up and ride.

Murray,

Do you always have to have the last word?

Over two years later, and the thread is still going.

Thanks be to the great webmistress for defeating the spam, and Power to the Penguins!

Rachel,

You're kidding, right?
Are you the only person who doesn't know what satire is? Are you completely unaware of who Adam is and how he feels? Have you read any of the comments?

This is the most assanine thing I have ever read in my entire 27 years of life on this planet. I have never even responded to anything I have ever read, but this has struck a major nerve.

My mother in law and her female partner, who by the way have been together for 20 years, have a love that has not only put a large majority of "straight" marriages to shame, but also represents what a marriage means. It means a love, compassion, sincerity, loyalty and companionship promised for eternity between two people. I have a failing marraige after only five years that I am striving to fix by example of their living testimant of love.

Who are you to decide that your marriage is better and more worthy of government recognition. My mother in law and her partner can not share the benefits afforded to them as a married couple such as much needed insurance because ignorance has overuled in our state government.

It is unbelieveable to me that there is actually a living, breathing human being that thinks that banning homosexual marriages will save his own floundering marriage. Here's a thought, take your wife on a date, surprise her with flowers or her favorite dessert. Or better yet, divorce her so she has a chance of finding a man, or woman, who loves her enough to not blame the homosexual population for his shortcomings as a husband!

On a final note, have you let your "many gay friends" in on this piece of work? Just wondering.

Get real,
Rachel Leigh Bost

First we legislate scanctity, then morality, and eventually we can legislate what religeous demomination everyone should be.

It's a good thing that we can fool God so easily. As long as we have laws to set people on the straight and narrow, God won't show his displeasure as he did on 9/11. Just ask Pat Robertson.

Maybe it's just me, but all this talk of gay people and penguins keeps reminding me of Catholic school.

I was just talking to God and after He got done lecturing me on my God-given penchant for women, He told me to tell you that Episcopalians suck.

So I told him that I would promise never to have sex or enjoy anything ever again, so long as he arranged to have the church bells down the street (which ring too loud, too early, too often) rust into silence. He wasn't happy, but He relented. I'm very persuasive.

Adam advocates penguin marriage??

Next thing we know he'll come out in penguins marrying people! Who can tell where it will all end?

This may not be a good way to start a presidential campaign, Adam. Unless you're trying to get a corner on the penguin voting bloc.

Ya know, that could be as good as anything the Democrats have come up with so far. And even the penguins would have to work hard to do worse than Bush et al have accomplished

Legalizing penguin marriage would destroy the unique penguin culture in a marginalizing human institution of marriage, destroying the penguin identity.

A good Calvinist knows that others, not like us, are having fun and God commands us to stop it. As soon as all others are miserable, we and God are happy.
