The Midwest Peace Process
I’ll be heading to Akron in a few hours, there to entertain and enlighten the masses. Or at least to give ‘em the opportunity to buy me a few drinks [note to Ohio - bourbon on the rocks]. I’ll give you a full report upon my return, and as I’ll be traveling with Mo Rocca, I’ll see if I can get him and some of the other “Wait Wait” luminaries to provide a statement or two for you. But in all likelihood you won’t see a Fanatical Apathy update tomorrow, and maybe not ’til late Friday, prompting the question…
Whatever shall you do? Wherever shall you go?
Well, there’s our Fanatical Apathy Forum, a magical land of good-natured and and lively discussion. Some of its members have had the temerity to claim that I haven’t featured that particular site feature prominently nor often enough. For one, how dare they? For two, they’re right. Drop on by, talk about whatever you like - there’s even a special selection of cute animated smiley faces for those of you who have trouble expressing yourselves with words [note to GWB - come on in! It’s just point-n-click!].
Also, if you look to the right you might notice that I’ve added a few sites to the “Friends” list and included a brand new category, “The Freethinking Fraternity.” I just thought I’d let y’all in on some more of the sites that I frequent, uh, frequently. As bloggers go, I’ve been horrifyingly remiss in this regard. More will be added soon, I promise. Really. No, really. I’m gonna get better about that, no doubt about it.
Probably.
What’s the Deal with Yesterday’s Cheney Thing?
I was kidding. I loved “Make Fun of the Cheneys Day.” My apologies to any satirists who thought I was actually taking them to task. See, I thought I’d sort of let the cartoon deconstruct and expose the prior pontification via its blatant employment of the very things I was… um, see? Amusing, huh? Now that I explain it? Yes?
Okay, no. The only thing worse than explaining satire is satire that has to be explained. I’m sorry. I’m starting to think that my being embedded in Girl Scout Troop 408 wasn’t such a great idea. The cookies are great, but I’m I’m worried that it might be compromising my objectivity.
In any case, have a good couple of days, dear readers, and keep those cards and letters coming. Or at least start those cards and letters coming. Why don’t I get any cards and letters?
[Note to me - develop “embedded-in-Girl-Scout-troop” idea. This could be a winner!]
Akron ho!

2Hey, Adam! I lived in Akron for a few years and have performed at the Civic Theater many times. It’s beautiful and historical.
Let me know if you need a hook up to some rubber or bowling balls…the two great things to come out of Akron.
Have a great trip and see you soon!

3Felber embedded in a girl scout troup? You know, there are laws against that…

4They’re apparently not being enforced with anywhere near the necessary vigilence and zeal.

5Well I got yesterday’s joke…and I do think being embedded in a girl scout troop has a great deal of possibilities - suddenly your views on whether Avril Lavigne writes her own songs are greatly compromised, you exhibit a bias towards boys as “yucky,” you notice a big disparity between the troop leaders and the scouts, who often respond to official reports with “whatever…”

6Then you could be ejected for revealing cookie selling tactics to the world, compromising operational security

8Adam -
Hope you enjoyed Akron as much as we enjoyed attending. Isn’t the Civic Theater a trip?
