For those of you dear readers who, whilst visiting New York, like to come and see a Felber or two in action, there is some sad news: Felbers’ Frolics, the weekly comedy sensation hosted by my sister and sidekicked by me… is no more. Its five year mission is now at an end.
Weep not for us Felbers; Susie and I haven’t had a Davies or Gallagher brothers style meltdown, and we’ll be performing together again in no time, I’m sure. And there will always be chances to see yours truly in and around New York City - for instance, tomorrow (Friday) night, at my good friend Christian Finnegan’s show. [For showtime and place, see this entry]
Still, it’s a sad thing to end a show that’d been so much fun for so long. Thanks to all of you out there who stopped in to say howdy after reading about it here - it always made my night. As for the rest of you who never got the chance…. just raise a virtual glass and imagine yourself in a smoky, dive-y Irish bar at 1AM, seeing yet another surprisingly accomplished comedian take the stage and wondering which would give out first - the one rickety stage light or your own overworked liver. Then through the blurry air you see your boisterous, beloved redheaded hostess prance back onto the stage, improvising a farewell anthem while her, um, high-foreheaded brother makes haphazard stabs on the 60-buck keyboard and warbles along with her, and…
Cheers!

1I’m flabbergasted! Felber’s Frolics was an institution. Why, on Earth, has this happened? If Felber’s Frolics has fallen, is Fanatical Apathy soon to follow? -FFFF

2I’m afraid this is all my fault… I recently informed Adam that I was coming to New York and that I wanted to see the show and out of fear he has been forced to cancel it. My apologies to one and all.
I guess I’ll just have to make do with the high fore-headed guys dive-y Irish bars here in San Diego… um, that didn’t come out the way I wanted it to…
Oh well, maybe next time
Rick.

5Gasp!
Does this mean I’ll never be able to see either of you again?
(Because I believe what you said the doctor told you. That if you ventured out beyond the New York City line you’d age 50 years instantly and all that other special effects stuff you enacted for me until I ran screaming from the room.)
oh, sob!

7Adam,
I am greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Felbers’ Frolics. On more than one occasion the genius that was the Frolics cheered a poor soul who had a crappy day at the Javitts Center. My Saturday night pilgramage to the Tripple Inn will never again be the same.

9I’m crushed.
Does this mean I should return the 67 Mr Bubble Bath’s I just bought off your registry?

I enjoyed the show when I was able to attend. I will miss it. Best of luck on your future endeavors, both of you.

And thanks for the nice comments, peoples.
Actually, the Frolics lived 6 years, 2 months.

11When you say “Gallagher brothers,” do you mean the monobrowed Manc singers, or the balding watermelon smashers? I’m just trying to get a feel for the show.

12Well, this certainly blows, bites, and, yes, sucks. I never made it to the show, and I live in the ci-tay. Waaah!
I have only myself to blame.
Damn me.
