It’s been a couple of weeks now since the announcement of the creation of a liberal radio network to combat the conservative infestation of the airwaves. The network’s being planned by Anshell Media, and they’re still in the early stages of development.
Several of you loyal readers have written to me about this, asking whether I’m planning to do anything with them, or telling me you’ve emailed them on my behalf. You folks have apparently leapt to the conclusion that I’m interested.
Don’t be rash. Don’t assume that I want or need you all to contact Anshell Media in order to recommend me. Sure, I might have one or two ideas concerning what my program on Anshell Media’s radio network might be like, but I hardly know anything about Anshell Media, nor what they’d be looking for, talent-wise.
Certainly I have some radio experience that might benefit Anshell Media, but Anshell Media will doubtless do what’s best for Anshell Media, regardless of whether or not there’s a furious email campaign to get me on their new network.
In short, let’s just calm down and take things slowly. Sure, if you happen to somehow find Anshell Media’s site out there on the web and you feel compelled to drop them a line about your various thoughts about their venture, you are free to DO SO. But don’t look to me to be organizing any kind of campaign to get my voice on their new network. That’s beneath me.

1If I had e-mailed Anshell to recommend that they put you on the air, ASAP, I wouldn’t dream of, say, mentioning that fact in a comment at your blog. . .that would be way too direct and uncool.

2So if I happened to be talking to Anshell Media about something completely different and accidentally dropped your name during one of those awkward conversational lapses, would you be OK with that?

3It was very considerate of you to make this announcement so that no one would inadvertantly suggest you and, consequently, waste Anshell’s time and efforts to recruit a reluctant performer. We wouldn’t want you to feel pressured in any way…

5Rest assured Mr. Felber, I did no such thing.
I’ve been staunchly recommending you for a show on Radio America.

6hmmmmmm……Anshell Media? Nope, never heard of ‘em. But, since you seem to be soliciting work, I did mention your name when the talk came around to a copy boy for Mr. Safire…

8I think we all know what Rush uses his left hand for, and I don’t think Adam’s interested — he’s a married man, mantis!

9The Rush shows and their clones are just a bunch of morons ranting and patting each other on the back for their brilliant, commonly-held beliefs. Do we need a Liberal counter-ranting radio network that does this? This is just more dumbing down of the discussion, if you ask me.

11I’ve been dying to bust the following funny:
Dole would have better luck arm wrestling Clinton than debating him.
Ah, much better. Sorry to be abstract like that.

12btw, Radio America, according to it’s website (www.radioamerica.org) “…is driven by its commitment to traditional American values, limited government and the free market.”
It would be a great fit for Adam, of course.

13If, for example, I had gotten a nice reply from Anshell media about an earlier e-mail recommending you for a spot (in which I asked them, for example, to put you on, in part, to “save me from Laura Ingraham!!”), it would be way too uncool and boorish to mention that in comments here.

19I’m 83 and I can’t take this stranglehold, this Goebbel-like propoganda monoply of the air waves by conservative talk show hosts. I thought I jelped get rid of Joe back in ‘45, but looks like he lives in spirit here.. Time article of june 30 ” astudy of 44 top rated radio stations and found 312 hours of conservative ralk programming compared with 5 hours of liberal shows” That’sd 98+%- so with another 2% we will be on the same level as Hitler’s and Stalin’s propoganda machine. How did we allow this to happen in a free society? A liberal rdio station is not the sole answer- Mabe a boycott of advertisers, buy air time on some of the most popular right wing shows, or fil;e a class action suit . If we do nothing we definitely will have Bush reelected, and both houses controlled by larger republican majorities. I’ll never forget the picture of Limbaugh on the capitol steps with fawning newly elected Republican congressmen making him an honoray congressman fro getting them elected. How could this happen in a free society? sincerely Anthony

21Anthony: It happened BECAUSE it is a free society. If liberal whining irritates listeners, they go away and advertisers don’t pay and the show is gone.
